Catapult Analytics - System Requirements & Troubleshooting

Bullet System Requirements

Because Catapult Analytics is built on the Microsoft Excel© framework all you need is a version of Microsoft Excel© installed on your computer.
  > Microsoft Excel© 2007 or Excel© 2003 are recommended
  > Microsoft Excel© 2000 may open small datasets, but it is not powerful enough to open larger datasets. EDA does not recommend the use of Catapult Analytics with Microsoft Excel© 2000. Additionally, Microsoft officially ended their mainstream support for Office 2000 in June 2004.
  > Not suitable for Mac

Bullet What if I receive a Microsoft ODBC Error?

Issue:
You receive the following message when attempting to run the Catapult Analytics Tools, "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager]Data source name not found and no default driver specified" or a similar message.
  Causes:

1.
The "EDA" folder on your C: drive is missing required files
Explained:
The Analytics Tools are designed to look for eight UDF files and one DATA.xls file in the "EDA" folder on your C: drive. If any of the files are missing, you will receive the error.
Fix 1:
Make sure the "EDA" folder is located directly under your C: drive (ex. C:/EDA) and not in a sub folder on your C: drive, such as "My Documents".

Fix 2:
Make sure all eight UDF tables and the DATA.xls file are located in the "EDA" folder on your C: drive. Because it only takes a few seconds to download the Catapult Analytics Tools, you can easily download replacement files to resolve the issue.
2.
The UDF column headings may have been modified

Explained:
The Analytics Tools are designed to look for specific files in the "EDA" folder on your C: drive. Then, inside the files, the Analytics Tools look for specific column names, such as UDFZIP1. While modifying the UDF tables, if you modify a UDF column heading, such as changing the column name "UDFZIP1" to read "Sales Person", Catapult Analytics will no longer be able to find that specific column and you will receive an error message.
Fix:
Navigate to the UDF table you may have recently changed and validate that the column headings match the originals. Click here to access the UDF section of the User Guide, it will outline the required field names.
3.
Your computer does not have the Microsoft Excel Drivers installed
Explained:
The standard Microsoft components may not be installed on your computer. Typically these components are set up during your initial installation of Microsoft Office, but the occassional user will be missing the proper drivers.

Fix:
Check with your IT team. Then install the "Microsoft Excel Driver (*.xls)", which can be loaded from the control panel > administrative tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
